The returning students are enjoying researching their choice of a Gifted & Talented person as part of the Understanding Giftedness Unit in the personal development strand of the NZCGE curriculum. We have all learned many interesting stories from their life that we did not know. The students have to use a primary source and a secondary source.
A primary source provides direct information about the event or person, they get you as close as possible to what happened.
A secondary source describes the event or person a few steps removed from the actual time and often are written with the benefit of hindsight.
We are also not allowed to use any information from Wikipedia!
We are looking at refining searches and advanced search skills using the Internet. The most exciting thing today was searching the Library catalogue, finding the book we wanted, and the number to locate it. Then wandering down to the fabulous Invercargill Public Library to take notes or to loan the book. We also continued to love the new puppies which are daily visitors at enrich@ILT this week! #booksarethebest
