Students have selected different contexts to continue learning about our Universal Concept Patterns. Some students have selected Human Settlement to find out more about the ways which human communities developed in particular places. Studying settlement patterns helps us understand why people established their communities in particular places and to predict which communities may thrive and which may die out. In this invention challenge students are being challenged to use their imagination and think creatively to design and make a futuristic settlement on a remote planet. There are two significant difficulties that are posed:
1. You only have a limited amount of organic resources and material carried with you from earth.
2. The new area is prone to meteor showers on a regular basis.
3. You will need to think about a water source, an energy source and a food source.
Students are embracing this challenge!
