Here's a few clips that we shared with the students last week.....
Tuesdays maths group learned about the history and creation of Piet Hein's, SOMA CUBE. Using uni-link blocks, the students investigated the many ways 3 and 4 blocks could be arranged. They then used seven specific blocks to construct a cube (3x3x3).
This clip shows the individual pieces and how to construct the cube . There are 240 ways to build the puzzle.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful ukulele performance of 'I'm Yours' with the class Amber and Anna. We do love students sharing their talents at Enrich@ILT.
Fantastic to see the students share their understanding and examples of systems with their peers. We had some clear and concise generalisations and big ideas as a result from this exercise.
Collaborative learning at its best.
We challenged our first year students to construct the tallest free standing tower, made from spaghetti and tape, to support a mashmallow. An excellent exercise that tests the creativity of students as well as the ability to work with others.
We've had a spectacular start to the year. The students have shared information about themselves in a writing exercise. This activity covered the Personal Development strand of our curriculum and highlighted information about the students personality, passions, strengths / weaknesses, anxieties and visions for the future. We thank the students for their amazing writing samples, providing honest and detail information about themselves.
In Talent Development, we've asked the students to select activities that they have a particular passion, talent or gift. These will help staff plan talent programmes for the term.
